The School of Business and Economics (SoBE) is a dynamic part of TRU and offers a wide array of successful graduate and undergraduate degree, diploma, and certificate programs in both business and economics. These programs are taught to domestic and international students using both on-campus and distance delivery methods.
We are seeking high-caliber, original thinkers and innovators in the area of Organizational Management and Innovation to help us pioneer a cutting-edge department and school. The new department of Human Enterprise and Innovation is building on the core foundations of Human Resource Management, Organizational Behaviour, and Entrepreneurship to form a focus on human centered activities – where creativity, collaboration, innovation, experiential education and entrepreneurial thinking, are key integrated themes in the design and management of dynamic organizations.
The successful candidate will be passionate about understanding the role and management of people in organizations and will continue to initiate, collaborate, and develop a teaching agenda focusing on scholarly and practical knowledge that unites current creative and innovative organizational management thinking to the challenges facing organizations in the future.
It is expected that the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Organizational Management – for example but limited to, Organization Behaviour, Organizational Theory, Change and Development, and Negotiation. A bipartite faculty member (A faculty member who contributes to Teaching and Service) would typically be expected to teach eight, 3 credit courses per year.
Faculty are also expected to make service contributions to their profession, department, school, institution or community by participating on various committees and contributing to other initiatives.
DUTIES:
The successful candidate will have a strong focus on developing research that specializes in areas such as understanding new venture creation, entrepreneurship, innovation and design thinking – with an overall focus on ‘business design’ – where creative intelligence and entrepreneurial thinking, are key integrated themes. They will continue to initiate, collaborate, and develop a research agenda focusing on scholarly and practical knowledge that unites current creative and innovative organizational practices to the organizational challenges of the future.
It is expected that the new faculty member’s research agenda will produce both peer reviewed conference presentation’s and published research papers/case studies in established high quality journals.
The successful candidate will teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in Entrepreneurship. A tripartite faculty member (A faculty member who contributes to Research, Teaching and Service) would typically be expected to teach five, 3 credit courses per year. There is also an opportunity to become the lead in developing the Entrepreneurship Major.
Faculty are also expected to make service contributions to their profession, department, school, institution or community by participating on various committees and contributing to other initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates are required to have an MBA or Master’s Degree with an Organizational Management focus.
- A Doctorate degree with a focus in Organizational Management would be seen as advantageous. (ABDs will be considered but must provide evidence of imminent completion).
- Candidates should have strong teaching experience or demonstrated potential supported by relevant evidence.
- Significant professional experience and additional relevant certifications in the Organizational Management field would also be seen as advantageous.
- A history of implementing and developing experiential education would be seen as a benefit.
- A strong focus in managing innovation in organizations would be a seen as very favourable.
