The Faculty of Agriculture (www.dal.ca/faculty/agriculture.html) is located on the Dalhousie University Agricultural Campus, located in Truro, Nova Scotia. Dalhousie University’s Faculty of Agriculture invites applications for a probationary tenure-track, tenure-track or tenured appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor (dependent upon qualifications and experience), commencing July 1, 2020. The successful applicant will be expected to engage in leading-edge research with faculty and students, to apply for external grants, to teach, and to contribute to the academic life of the School through committee service and other activities. Capability to make significant contributions to graduate student (MSc & PhD) education and research is essential. Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating potential for collaboration with colleagues from the faculty’s wide range of research programs in farming, agriculture and rural life as well as community and industry groups.
Applicants must have:
i) a PhD in a relevant discipline from an accredited business school or an accredited agricultural/agri-food business studies research program. (Candidate’s qualifications must meet the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) standards.); and,
ii) Publications related to value chains in recognized academic journals.
iii) Experience teaching value chain management at the undergraduate level.
iv) Ability to teach management, marketing or other business courses.
The successful applicant will teach courses in value chain management at the diploma, undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate will be expected to conduct research in the area of value chain management to include regional, national (Canada) and international scales with direct relevance to the food and agribusiness sector and publish in high quality scholarly journals. Building strong research and outreach connections with the food and agricultural industry as well as attracting and maintaining research funding will be essential. The successful applicant will be expected to engage in leading-edge research with faculty and students, to apply for external grants, to teach and to contribute to the academic life of the School through committee service and other activities.
