Area of Research Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow/Research Associate position in Operations and Supply Chain Management. The duration of the postdoctoral fellow position is one year with a possibility for renewal for the second year depending on budget availability. The appointee will take part in various research activities in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, and Operations Research. In addition, the appointee will work with Dr. Hossein Zolfagharinia (Global Management Studies Department), Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University.
Responsibilities The appointee will investigate two different research areas: (1) transportation systems and network configuration with a focus on land transportation, (2) the application of operations management in the healthcare context. The appointee is expected to lead each stage of the investigation (i.e., data collection and analyses, modeling, developing solution algorithms, manuscript preparation, conference presentations, etc.).
Qualifications The applicant must have a Ph.D. degree in Operations and Supply Chain Management, Management Science, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related discipline before the start date. Research experience in supply chain and logistics management and healthcare operations management is highly desirable. The successful candidate must have strong modeling and computational skills, including but not limited to: 1) optimization under uncertainty (e.g. stochastic programming, robust optimization, chance-constrained programming); 2) familiarity with game theory approaches; 3) Queuing Systems; 4) Dynamic Programming; 5) C/C++/CPLEX programming skills. Excellent written and communication skills are also required. Lastly, priority is given to those who have at least one A* published research article in the ABDC journal quality list.
