Division Chair
The primary responsibilities of this position are to give guidance to other divisional officers in their duties, handle duties related to the proposal for a divisional speaker (if any) and to attend ASAC meetings and functions.
Specific duties include:
- Reviewing the ASAC Survival Guide for guidelines, action dates and materials.
- Giving assistance and guidance to the Divisional Editor and Program Coordinator.
- Working with other divisional officers to identify and recommend a divisional speaker (if desired).
- Submitting the proposal for the divisional speaker to the conference organizers.
- In conjunction with the conference organizers, assisting the divisional speaker in the coordination of their trip and talk (if your Division;s proposal is approved).
- Sending out a call for nominations for the next year’s Program Coordinator.
- Attending Division Chairs’ Council meeting (or assigning designate to do so).
- Chairing the divisional annual meeting.
- Coordinating the divisional dinner at the conference.
Divisional Editor
The primary responsibilities of this position are to: inform ASAC divisional members of the opportunity to submit papers to the ASAC conference, manage the paper submission process, find reviewers for papers submitted to the division, send manuscript submissions to reviewers, make acceptance/rejection decisions on papers, and, in conjunction with the Program Coordinator, prepare the division’s proceedings.
Specific duties include:
- Reviewing the ASAC Survival Guide for guidelines, action dates and materials.
- Sending the Call for Papers to division members.
- Monitoring the submission process.
- Finding reviewers for manuscripts.
- Sending papers/symposium proposals out for review.
- Selecting papers and symposia for publication and/or presentation.
- Sending the notification of acceptance or rejection to authors.
- Coordinating the process by which the winners of divisional awards are determined, and forwarding information on award winners to the ASAC Awards Chair and authors.
- Notifying the Program Coordinator of accepted manuscripts and award winners, and creating the division’s program in collaboration with the Program Coordinator and Division Chair.
- Working with the Program Coordinator in preparing the divisions proceedings and sending them to the conference organizers.
- Sending thank you letters to reviewers.
Program Coordinator
The primary responsibilities of this position are to prepare the division’s conference program and, with the Divisional Editor, prepare the division’s proceedings.
Specific duties include:
- Reviewing the ASAC Survival Guide for guidelines, action dates and materials.
- Obtaining the list of accepted papers and authors from the Divisional Editor.
- Checking with presenters and/or other divisions for potential conflicts in scheduled paper presentations.
- Putting papers together into program sessions.
- Assigning Chairs and/or Discussants to each paper session, and giving each session a title.
- Sending a draft program to the conference organizers.
- In collaboration with the Divisional Editor, preparing and submitting the divisional proceedings.
- After approval by the Conference Chair, forwarding a copy of the Divisional Program to divisional members and to all participants in the program
