ParticipantHi, all!
Thanks once again for participation in the divisional executive workshop yesterday, 8 April.
Following up on our conversation, a couple of key points:
1. First, the instructions for Program Coordinators on how to use ScholarOne/AbstractCentral to manage developing your program have been posted in the survival guide. For quick and handy reference, you can find those here.
2. To summarize some of the questions that came out of our conversation about handling program decisions:
a) If you want to accept something submitted as Full Paper as a Work-in-Progress, then:
– accept the paper for presentation
– change the submission type to “Work in Progress” (editing the initial submission)
– extend an invite to the author to present; if they refuse to present as a Work-In-Progress, then reject the submissionb) While most divisions separate presentations of full papers and works-in-progress, you may have a need or desire to create a mixed session. In that case, you may choose to:
– identify in the session description (Session Notes field while editing the session) that this is a mixed session
– lead the session with the full papers, followed by the works-in-progress (unless, again, you have a compelling reason to do otherwise)
– for the works-in-progress, edit the paper titles to specifically reference this: We suggest adding at the beginning the text: “(Work in Progress)” followed by the original author title.c) Consider opportunities for joint sessions with other divisions. Authors have the opportunity to submit their papers identifying a secondary division that might be interested. This makes your job incredibly easy in terms of identifying opportunities. If you do want to share papers between divisions in a joint session:
– let the conference team know
– decide which division will serve as “host” for the papers that are being integrated into the joint session
– transfer the papers from the reviewing division to the hosting division by editing the abstract submission, and changing the primary and secondary divisions; the primary division should now be the division that serves as host, and can then proceed with programming the joint session.Let is know if you have any other questions.
Thanks!
